Lake District and Mountain Goats
Stunning scenery and peaceful countryside form the backdrop to our holiday enjoying the best of Englands largest National Park. The Mountain Goat is a classic adventure tour by minibus, reaching places where a large coach cannot reach. We travel from Keswick to Grasmere, on to Elterwater and Great Langdale stopping in the ancient town of Hawkshead. In the afternoon, we visit Hill Top, Beatrix Potters 17th century farmhouse, before travelling to Wray Castle, Tarn Hows, Coniston and Thirlmere. A truly spectacular day out - not to be missed. Enjoy a cruise around Lake Windermere. Well have time to explore Keswick and will visit Grasmere, a popular destination with its own lake, lovely small independent village shops, pubs and cafes and the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread!

DTuesday 16 August
After a hearty breakfast you will be collected by 'The Mountain Goat' for our adventure tour by minibus. We depart Keswick and travel to Grasmere, Great Langdale, Blea Tarn, Little Langdale stopping around lunchtime in Hawkshead. In the afternoon, you will visit the 17th century farmhouse that once belonged to Beatrix Potter. We then travel on to Wray Castle, Tarn Hows, Coniston returning via Thirlmere. This day tour is truly a memorable journey not to be missed.
D, FEWednesday 17 August
This morning we travel over the Kirkstone Pass with an altitude of 1,489 feet making it the highest pass that is open to motorway traffic and it connects Ambleside in the Rothay Valley to Patterdale in the Ullswater valley. Also near the top of this pass is Kirkstone Quarry where the rock extraction and architectural stone production took place over 500 meters above sea level. Stopping at Bowness in Windermere we have an Island cruise on Lake Windermere. We then visit the popular tourist destinations of Ambleside and Grasmere with most of its buildings dating back from 19th Century. This village is nestled at the foot of some spectacular fells and has its own lake and hosts small independent village shops, pubs and cafes and where you are able to taste the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread!
D, FEThursday 18 August
Today you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the day is your own to explore Keswick and today is market day in this pretty town. The weekly market has over 70 stalls selling a vast array of different items from local produce to handmade gifts, household goods to pottery and takeaway foods so plenty of things to see. You could also visit the Cumberland Pencil Museum or why not try one of the many boating trips that are offered around Lake Derwentwater.
D, FEFriday 19 August
After a full Cumbrian breakfast we return home to South Devon.
