We leave Devon and make our way to Derby and check in to our hotel with time to relax and use the leisure facilities before dinner.

Friday 12th May

After a full English breakfast, we head to Cromford to enjoy a two-hour narrow boat trip through the picturesque Derwent valley. We then make our way to Matlock where you can shop, sightsee and have some lunch. In the afternoon we visit Sir Richard Arkwright's Cromford Mills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We enjoy a mill and village tour to hear the story of how, in the 18th century, the valley changed the world with the first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill.

Saturday 13th May

After breakfast in the hotel, we visit the National Brewery Centre Museum in Burton-upon-Trent. Hear about the history of the Bass family, and learn about the brewing process and the fascinating roles the steam engines and vintage vehicles played in the development of the brewery industry. You also get to sample some great ales brewed on site! We then escape to the country and enjoy afternoon tea on Derbyshire's longest heritage railway, the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.

Sunday 14th May

After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Crich Tramway Village, a period village museum where we can enjoy travelling along the traditional village street on a vintage tram, taking in the spectacular views. There are indoor exhibitions taking us on a journey through the history of trams, there is a woodland walk and sculpture trail with breathtaking views across the Derwent Valley and Derbyshire Countryside.
