We travel to our hotel in Cardigan, with comfort stops on the way.
Monday 17th June
Today is 'Ceredigion' Monday, we travel to Aberaeron, a picturesque Georgian harbour town. In the afternoon we enjoy a harbour cruise from New Quay and hopefully spot some dolphins in Cardigan Bay.
D, FETuesday 18th June
Today it's South Pembrokeshire day, we travel to Tenby to enjoy the day in this delightful harbour town and seaside resort. Tenby boasts some of the most scenic beaches in Pembrokeshire with picturesque cobbled streets, independent shops, cafes and pubs or if you prefer visit the local museum and art gallery. Why not catch the ferry to Caldey Island, owned by a community of Reformed Cistercian monks. Visitors can explore the ancient priory and sample the famous Caldey chocolate, fudge and perfume. Boat trips run regularly from spring to late summer.
D, FEWednesday 19th June
After breakfast, we take a ride on the Gwili Railway which is one of the UK's most picturesque preserved lines. Set in beautiful countryside with abundant wildlife, the line follows the River Gwili on a steady uphill journey through farmland and wooded hillsides. Afterwards, we visit Aberglasney which was made famous by the BBC television series "A Garden Lost in Time" which followed its restoration. Today it is one of Wales' finest gardens, and at its heart lies a fully restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden that is the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today. Visitors can explore 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland, right through to exotic and modern along with the fully restored ground floor of Aberglasney's grade II* listed mansion.
D, FEThursday 20th June
Today we are joined by Mark our local guide for a tour of North Pembrokshire, starting with a visit to the Dyfed Shire Horse Farm in Carnhuan, Eglwyswrw. These gentle giants have been born and bred here for over 40 years and has a strong association with the Royal Family, as the birthplace and final resting place of Dyfed Celt, aka Major Mercury, Drum Horse of the Queens Household Cavalry. We continue our tour to visit charming St. Davids, the smallest city in Britain, there will be time at leisure to stroll the picturesque lanes and browsing interesting little shops or the local Thursday market or visit the Cathedral.
Friday 21st June
After a full Welsh breakfast we return home to Devon.
