One of the worlds 'must see' events to add to your bucket list!

Explore Scotland's, city and country, from our luxurious base between Glasgow and Stirling. One of the world's 'must see events' is the famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a spectacle with hundreds of performers, breath-taking shows of military precision, battle re-enactments and traditional dancers. The famous finale of massed pipe bands and drums, led by a lone piper, is set against the dramatic backdrop of this world-famous castle. This holiday would not be complete without visiting another two iconic sights, the magnificent equine sculptures of The Kelpies and afterwards a ride on the Falkirk Wheel, the worlds only rotating boat lift.

Set on a hill top, with views over Cumbernauld town and the surrounding hills. Sunday 10th August

Leaving Devon we travel to our overnight hotel near Blackburn with comfort stops on route.

Monday 11th August

We continue on to Scotland, with a visit to the Devils Porridge Museum, discovering the remarkable wartime story of the Greatest Munitions Factory and the extraordinary lives of the Munitions Girls who worked there. Built during WW1, HM Factory Gretna stretched nine miles along the Solway Coast and produced more cordite explosive than all the other factories combined. Through unique objects and interactive displays, this museum brings to life the secret wartime history of Southwest Scotland and Cumbria. We arrive at our hotel with time to unpack and relax before dinner.

Tuesday 12th August

After breakfast you will have free time to explore the city of Glasgow which is located on the banks of the River Clyde. Renowned for its striking architecture, contemporary art spaces and fascinating museums. The iconic Wellington statue, adorned with a traffic cone, is a prime example of the locals' sense of humour. With its mix of independent and high-street shops, the city is considered to be something of a shopper's paradise too.

Wednesday 13 August

Departing the hotel at lunch time we visit Scotland's Capital City & enjoy some time to sightsee. There are plenty of restaurants you can choose for your evening meal, we will meet at a designated point then make our way to the show. There is a steep incline leading up to the castle and once inside there are cobbles. The Military Tattoo performance starts later that evening.

Thursday 14th August

After a full Scottish breakfast we travel to see The Kelpies, these magnificent equine sculptures, standing proudly at 30 meters tall, embody the power and grace of Scotland's rich heritage. Discover the intricate details, the marvelous feat of engineering and the symbolism that lies within. Afterwards we travel to the Falkirk Wheel and take a ride on the world's only rotating boat lift, this tour takes 50 minutes and includes two turns on The Wheel. Afterwards we then travel to our overnight hotel in Blackburn.

Friday 15th August

After breakfast we return home to South Devon with comfort stops on route.
