Outstandingly beautiful, uncrowded and unspoilt...

The Isles of Scilly lie just off the coast of Cornwall but seem like a world apart. Every inch of these 200 low lying isles form an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and everyone who visits here falls in love with the laid back lifestyle. We’ll be based on St Mary’s, the biggest and most populated island and the hub of Scillonian life. Outside the hustle and bustle of Hugh Town, St Mary’s still has more than its fair share of dreamy beaches, complete with white sand, tranquil waters and stunning seascapes. We will also visit the island of Tresco and the world famous Abbey Gardens with their extraordinary collections laid in zones such as "Higher and Lower Australia", "Mexico" and "South Africa Cliff". We depart early from Devon and make our way to Penzance where we leave the coach and board the Scillonian passenger ferry to St Mary's. From the ferry you can view a unique perspective of some of Cornwall's most iconic coastline, you may even be lucky enough to spot a pod of dolphins. A gentle guided walking tour of St Marys is included on one day, with a ferry to Tresco and entrance to Abbey gardens on another one. On your free day there is plenty for you to see and explore. St Mary's itself is an ideal base to catch a ferry to one of the other inhabited islands, St Martin's and St Agnes are two of the more popular islands to visit there is plenty of history and archaeology alongside sweeping sea views and of course some amazing wildlife. The island of St Mary's covers a total of 2.5 square miles, Hugh Town is where the hotel is located and is the central hub with a cluster of shops, churches, galleries and restaurants and has three lovely beaches in very close proximity - Porthcressa, Town Beach and Porthmellon. Old town is the other 'major' settlement on St Mary's and has its own beautiful beach, nature reserve and the beautiful Old Town Church where Sir Harold Wilson is buried. Tresco is a beautiful, tranquil, family owned island that is the second largest of the islands and a subtropical gem. The island has a little bit of everything from dramatic rocky outcrops, bronze age burial sites and romatic castle ruins, to secluded sandy beaches. The rugged north of the island is a great place to walk and explore while in the centre of the island there are bird hides to seek out and Tresco's freshwater pools and of course not forgetting the world famous sugar-fine white sands of Pentle and Appletree Bay.
