Getting up close to the planes, we will learn more about its history and the incredible contribution that de Havilland made to British Aviation for over 80 years. We visit magnificent Hatfield House for a fascinating guided tour. Used as magnificent filming locations for popular period films and dramas, Hatfield House is a fine Jacobean House set with beautiful formal gardens featuring a series of lavishly decorated rooms including the Marble Hall and the King James Drawing room. Take in the unmissable highlights of the spectacular West side of Highgate Cemetery, including the iconic Egyptian Avenue, the Circle of Lebanon and the Terrace Catacombs (which are opened exclusively for tour participants).
The stylish art-deco Comet Hotel, named after the iconic de Havilland Comet aircraft is the perfect base for your tour. Close to the Galleria shopping mall and cinema complex, hotel facilities include a lounge and welcoming bar area to meet up with new friends. Deluxe rooms located in a separate modern building just 25 metres from the hotel entrance feature hairdryer, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, bathroom amenities and tea/coffee making facilities. We leave Devon and travel to our hotel in Hatfield, with comfort stops on route, arriving with time to unpack and settle in before dinner.
DFriday 29th May
After a leisurely breakfast we travel to Highgate Cemetery for a guided tour, Take in the unmissable highlights of the spectacular West side of Highgate Cemetery, including the iconic Egyptian Avenue, the Circle of Lebanon and the Terrace Catacombs (which are opened exclusively for tour participants). Your ticket price includes admission to the whole Cemetery on the day of your tour leaving you free to explore this remarkable place further at your leisure. Free time in Highgate Village to view some of the houses of the rich & famous.
D, FESaturday 30th May
After breakfast, we travel to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum for a 2 hour guided tour followed by light refreshments. Getting up close to the planes, we will learn more about its history and the incredible contribution that de Havilland made to British Aviation for over 80 years. Afterwards, we have free time to explore St Albans, known for its impressive Cathedral and Verulamium Museum, on the site of a major Roman city.
D, FESunday 31st May
Today we visit magnificent Hatfield House for a fascinating guided tour. This fine Jacobean House set with beautiful formal gardens features a series of lavishly decorated rooms including the Marble Hall and the King James Drawing room. Marvel at the galleries and artefacts on display.
D, FEMonday 1st June
After a full English breakfast, we return home to South Devon with comfort stops on route, arriving home early evening.
