It's a place full of colour, contrasts and character, where landscapes are ever-changing and the Manx history is rich. From our base in the pretty seasite capital of Douglas, we'll head to the hills of the island to take in the panoramic views from the Great Laxey Wheel, affectionately known as the Lady Isabella. The House of Manannan (entrance fee not included) is a substantial museum that leads the visitor through the island's history with some fascinating Celtic and Viking exhibits, including a replica long boat that was sailed over from Norway to celebrate the Tynwald Parliament's millennium. If you're feeling peckish try some traditional Manx cuisine at Moore's Smoked Kipper Factory, an island favourite, or even the Manx national dish Queenies (Queen Scallops). We then carry on our journey following the famous, 37 mile long, Isle of Man, TT Mountain Course via Snaefell where the descent starts through countryside before entering the residential outskirts of Douglas back to the grandstands at the finish line.
