Home to some of our countrys most fascinating stories, Canterbury is shaped by nature, history and its people. From Romans, to royalty, saints to knights and playwrights to pilgrims.
With free time in Whitstable, this lovely seaside town is home to boutique shops, eateries and a pleasant harbour and seafront that we can stroll along. We then travel along the coast via Broadstairs to the popular seaside town of Ramsgate, where we have a guided walking tour of Ramsgate Tunnels, the UKs largest network of civilian wartime tunnels. We see the purpose-built air raid precaution tunnels where thousands took shelter and lived under the town, hearing stories of life underground, how the tunnels were built and how a town below the town evolved.

DTuesday 13th April
Today, we make the journey from our hotel to Leeds Castle. This elegant 12th century castle rises majestically from the waters of its moat and is surrounded by 500 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. We have 900 years of history to take in, from its beginnings as a Norman stronghold to being the home of the wealthy Anglo-American heiress the Hon. Lady Baillie. After visiting the magnificent state rooms of Leeds Castle, there's time to see everything the estate has to offer including stunning gardens and the beautiful yew maze.

After breakfast, we travel to the beautiful city of Canterbury. Step into 1,400 years of history at Canterbury's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral, as well as St Martin's Church and St Augustine's Abbey, explore the city's charming medieval streets or relax on a lazy punt or historic boat trip along the River Stour as your guide points out hidden gems only found from meandering the waterways of the city.

After a full English breakfast we make our way home to Devon.
