Monday 24th April
We make our way to the beautiful new Forest stopping in Dorset's county town of Dorchester on route. Enjoy some free time before arriving at our hotel with time to settle in and relax before dinner.
DTuesday 25th April
After a full English breakfast, we travel to beautiful Exbury Gardens. Renowned for Spring colour, set apart from other gardens by the world-famous collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, there are also spectacular displays of camelias, magnolias and a Daffodil Meadow. Enjoy the fabulous new River Walk along the Beaulieu River with viewing points where you can watch birds and wildlife on the estuary's tidal flats. Experience the sights and sounds of a working narrow-gauge steam railway departing from a replica Victorian station which travels through a tunnel, over a bridge and round the new Dragonfly Pond. Lunches and afternoon teas can be purchased from a selection of eateries around the gardens.
D, FEWednesday 26th April
We start the day with a New Forest Heavy Horse Wagon ride, with stories of the history of smugglers, witch craft and the magical powers of the lay lines & meet the beautiful gentle giants, while driving along peaceful and relaxing forest tracks. We then visit Lyndhurst known as the capital of the New Forest since William the Conqueror established it as a royal hunting ground in 1079. Finally we travel to Brockenhurst - a bustling village full of charm with ponies and donkeys roaming free.
D, FEThursday 27th April
Today we make our way to Bucklers Hard, once a hive of ship building activity providing ships for Nelsons Navy and today it is unspoilt by the passage of time. On arrival we have a 30 minute tranquil cruise along the River Beaulieu where you will learn about the history and wildlife that inhabits the river banks and afterwards there will be time to visit the Maritime Museum. In the afternoon we continue on to the Georgian market town of Lymington, world renowned as a sailing resort with its two large marinas Berthon and Haven. The town itself has a number of interesting independent shops and from the bottom of the High Street a cobblestone road which leads down to the Old Town Quay.
D, FEFriday 28th April
After breakfast, we make our way home stopping in the Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis on route. Boasting beautiful beaches, rows of beach huts, and a pretty harbour. We arrive home in South Devon early evening.
