Discover Yorkshires rich tapestry of literary romance and grand industrial heritage. Our tour takes you through wild,inspiring Brontë Country, visiting Haworth, followed by a
trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. We travel to Sheffield and Kelham Island Museum. Delve into the story of manufacture, from master craftsmen to mass production.
Experience life and work during the Industrial Revolution, the Victorian era, and celebrate the Women of Steel. We also visit Elsecar Heritage Centre, the Earl Fitzwilliams heritage centre village built by the gentry which became an international centre of ironmaking and coalmining, and the perfectly preserved Victorian country estate of Brodsworth Hall.
The hotels main building is a Grade II listed former farmhouse style residence built in the 17th Century. The extension added in the early 2000s was carefully constructed to mirror the hotels main building. Offering 98 well appointed, very spacious bedrooms in two bedroom wings. There are 61 rooms with step in cubicle showers however, 30 rooms are located in an area without a lift and access via stairs only. The Courtyard rooms are accessible via a lift. To guarantee specific room types, they must be requested and are subject to availability.
The welcoming lounge bar has plenty of comfortable seating and there are two restaurant/bar areas. The hotel Leisure Club spa has an attractive 15m indoor pool, spa-bath, sauna and steam room. Today, visit Brodsworth Hall and Gardens to hear of its impressive rise as a country seat and steady decline until it was saved in the 1990s. Inside, the interiors were conserved as close to possible as they were found, preserving its distinctive character. On return, visit much loved Elsecar, a heritage centre village built by the gentry which became an international centre of ironmaking and coalmining. It is now home to a number of independent shops and cafes.

Off to Bronte country and Haworth where a Bronte themed guided tour awaits. From here, it's a short hop to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. First opened in 1867 to transport coal and textiles to the local mills, journey back in time and enjoy five miles of stunning scenery. To round the day off, head to the Victorian spa town of Ilkley, known for its breath-taking moorland scenery, with time to wander at your own pace.

To Sheffield and Kelham Island Museum. Delve into the story of manufacture, from master craftsmen to mass production. Experience life and work during the Industrial Revolution, the Victorian era, celebrate the Women of Steel and see how industry forged this cosmopolitan city. In contrast, then take a scenic drive to the Peak District National Park and the village of Castleton at the head of the Hope Valley. Take time to stroll or perhaps treat yourself to some 'Blue John', a semi-precious mineral, unique to this area.

After a full English breakfast we return home to South Devon.
